Every week, we help hundreds of people to transport furniture and other goods around the world.
And we are really good at it!
Our history
1980: The company is founded
We were founded on 11 December 1980 by Johnny Ploug Hansen, who is still part of the company today. At that time, Johnny had been employed for 5 years at the company Fensholm International Møbeltransport A/S, as responsible for transport and storage, and had thus made a name for himself in the industry.
Back then we were called J.H. International Transportservice, and started out with a single van. Very quickly this was replaced with a truck, and for the following 5 years a new truck was added to the fleet every year.
As more tasks came, turnover increased annually by 50-100% in the first 5 years.
1985: Bruun Rasmussen
In 1985 came the culmination of 5 years of hard work, and an agreement was made for the transport of art and antiques for Bruun Rasmussen Art Auctions. This led to a large influx of customers from the Copenhagen antique and art dealers.
It was also in 1985 that we opened a packaging factory for the production of export boxes. Today, this packaging company is among the few export packaging companies in Denmark that is ISPM 15 certified.
1996: Friendship
As a special task, in 1996 we were responsible for the installation of Robert Jacobsen’s 11 m high iron sculpture Friendship, on Kongens Nytorv in Copenhagen, after having it stored in our warehouse for a few years. The sculpture was later sold at auction by Bruun Rasmussen to the company Würth, where it today adorns the head office in Strasbourg. We were also responsible for the removal at Kongens Nytorv, and the delivery to Strassburg.
1999: Lauritz.com
In 1999, Lauritz.com started with the first online auctions, and since the first auction was hammered, we have had a close collaboration with them on transport to and from their showrooms throughout Europe.2005: Expansion of storage facilities
Gradually, more and more lines were added to the order book, and in 2004 both turnover and the number of cars and employees increased. In 2005, we therefore expanded our warehouse from 1200m2 with an extension of 700m2, to handle the ever-increasing amount of goods.
2007: Gazelle
After experiencing explosive growth, in 2007 we were named a Gazelle company by Børsen.
2017: Generational change
In 2017, the generational change takes place, with Johnny’s 2 sons Skipper and Mikkel each taking over 1/3 of the company. Johnny continues as director, Skipper as day-to-day manager, and Mikkel with responsibility for administration. The company is now jointly owned and managed by Johnny, Skipper and Mikkel.
2021: Acquisition of Packman A/S
In 2021, we made our first acquisition. After more than 50 years in the industry and 32 years with packman a/s, Peter Federspiel transferred his passion to JH Transport ApS, and we have thus taken over all activities in packman a/s.
“It is a historic day for both companies, and we are very aware of the responsibility we are taking on, both towards packman’s employees, who – like our own – feel like one big family, and towards packman’s customers who have been used to a level of service which will of course continue unabated.”
-Skipper Hansen, General Manager
2022: New name and new address
In continuation of the takeover of packman A/S, the two companies are now finally merged. Thus, the company will henceforth be called JH Packman ApS.Soon after, packman’s address will be combined with JH’s in new premises on Nimbusvej, and farewell will be said to Ishøj after 40 years.
2023: Acquisition of Frank Høgh Transport
In the summer of 2023, we acquired Frank Høgh Transport. A company with an impressive history and solid reputation in the world of transport.Frank Høgh started as self-employed in January 1993 and has been a well-known face in the auction industry for decades, where he has served customers like Bruun Rasmussen with professionalism and dedication.
2025: Acquisition of Hvejsel
In January 2025, we acquired the activities of Hvejsel (known as Hvejsel Møbeltransport A/S, Hvejsel Kunsttransport A/S and Hellerup Flytteforretning og Kunsttransport A/S).The acquisition of Hvejsel will strengthen our position as a leading player in transportation and logistics with a special focus on specialized transport of art, antiques, auction items and designer furniture.
Hvejsel has built a strong position in both national and international transportation assignments, and they are known for their high level of service, quality and expertise, making them a natural addition to our core business.
“We see it as an obvious opportunity to continue and develop the strong competencies that Hvejsel Møbeltransport represents.
Our ambition is to ensure stability and continue the high level of service that our customers know, and we are pleased to welcome Hvejsel and their customers to the JH family.”
